Description
This prestigious wine, now celebrated worldwide, was born from an unexpected twist in the traditional production of Recioto, a sweet wine that was once the favorite of many.
In the past, winemakers occasionally faced conditions in the cellar that were not ideal for creating the sweet Recioto. Without the advanced technology we have today, the musts would sometimes complete their alcoholic fermentation, transforming all sugars into alcohol. This process resulted in a dry wine, much to the initial dismay of the cellar workers. However, this “second-born” wine, initially overlooked, soon revealed its immense potential and superiority.
Recognized for its unique qualities, this wine achieved DOC status in 1968 and was further honoured with DOCG status in 2010. Today, it is a testament to the art of winemaking and the beauty of unexpected outcomes.
